Tesla working on the launch of the new generation of Model Y. The American electric SUV will arrive next year with a different design, a higher quality interior, more equipment and now, according to the Chinese press, a new battery with greater capacity and greater autonomy.
A few days ago, we saw a heavily camouflaged Model Y on American roads. These images gave us a glimpse of what its exterior and interior design will be like.
A new generation that will arrive with changes such as a sharper front end, which will follow the example of the Model 3 Highland, allowing it to benefit from a slightly sharper and aerodynamic appearance. This should result in lower fuel consumption on the highway.

New 95 kWh battery for Model Y
It will also adopt the minimalist and higher quality interior of the Model 3, which will allow the Y to make a significant qualitative leap, although it will also receive new features less appreciated by many customers, such as the disappearance of the controls behind the steering wheel.
But the most interesting section is undoubtedly the one that reports a rumor coming from China, which indicates that Tesla is working on launching a Long Range version, which would see the current 75 kWh battery supplemented by a battery of 95 kWh.
We say “supplemented”, because the 75 kWh battery will probably remain the standard version, while the second will serve as a real long-range battery. Something that would be favored precisely by the fact that, as Elon Musk himself confirmed, the current standard version is in fact a Long Range limited by software.
Thanks to this new battery, and some aerodynamic and engine improvements, it is indicated that the Model Y will be able to exceed the 800 km of CLTC autonomy. In addition to the increase in autonomy, the new battery also allows increased performance in terms of charging speed and power. Drivers can expect a smoother and more responsive driving experience, with reduced charging times thanks to Tesla’s Superchargers.

This means that, according to our WLTP cycle, the new Model Y Long Range Dual Motor should have a range of approximately 630km, compared to 533 km currently, while a hypothetical rear-wheel drive Long Range variant could see its current WLTP range of 600 km pass about 700 km.
Of course, these numbers aren’t official, but they’re not unreasonable given the evolution of battery technology and the fact that the Model Y is facing more and better competition, which which does not allow her to keep her cards close as she has done until now.
A Juniper Model Y is expected to enter production before the end of the year and begin sales and deliveries during the first quarter of 20
