About a year ago, Mercedes-Benz publicly revealed the next-generation electric CLA, albeit in concept form. This model will take on rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4, among others. However, the Stuttgart firm will not be satisfied with this launch. A few months after the arrival of this electric sedan, it will launch also an SUV version of this.
This model will be based on the CLA itself and will use many of its own components. The sedan and sedan approach will be exactly the same as what Tesla currently uses in its models; in other words, the two models derive from a common core and their goal will be to to be located in the range of entry-level pricing of the company.
This is what Mercedes’ future electric SUV will look like
As confirmed by the brand itself, the future CLA will arrive on the market at the end of 2025 and will represent “a new era for the brand”. The electric SUV that will be derived from it should therefore use the same general elements. But when will this SUV version hit the market? According to AutoForecast Solutions, the SUV that will compete with the Tesla Model Y will enter production in October 2025 and will reach the mass market in the first months of 2026.

Both the CLA and this electric SUV will be based on the new MMA platform for entry-level electric cars. The family will be complete, with body styles such as the CLA and SUV, as well as a station wagon and a crossover.
The name of this electric SUV derived from the CLA is not yet known, but everything suggests that it could replace the current EQA and EQB, thus achieving the reduction in range already promised by Mercedes. “Offering more choice in sporty and inexpensive crossovers gives young buyers more reasons to turn to the brand. At the same time, more family-friendly SUVs will interest them for more years,” explains Sam Fiorani, vice-president ofAutoForecast Solutions.
As one of the brand’s American dealers confirmed, since the unveiling of the CLA concept, they have been receiving a lot of interest from new young customers. “A crossover derived from the CLA would be Mercedes’ answer to Tesla at a competitive price,” explained the dealership’s management.
Mercedes’ objective, in addition to standing up to Tesla, will also be to target BYD, as well as other Chinese brands in the Eastern country. One of its strong points will be its new stylistic language, with the “shark nose” or LED daytime running lights that cross the entire width of the front. It will also integrate new software called MB OS.

No mechanical details are known at this stage, but we do know that the CLA will be equipped with a new ultra-efficient electric powertrain, capable of traveling approximately 9 kilometers per kWh of battery capacity. The presentation of both models will probably take place around next summer, when all doubts have been resolved.
