The most powerful engine in 100 years: 782 hp and two fused fuels

All car manufacturers are in constant research to create an ever more efficient engine that uses ecological and non-polluting fuel. We present to you an innovative machine that combines the power of two fuels. Let’s see what’s going on.

The most powerful engine in the brand’s 100-year history

Bentley is a British manufacturer of high-end luxury cars, which designs and builds also the machines that power its vehicles. Among its most successful cars on the market is the Continental GT Speed, with which it presented its new powertrain as a world premiere.

It was named Ultra Performance Hybrid. This same system was installed in the Bentley Flying Spur model, a luxury car comparable to the Rolls-Royce, whose engine is the most powerful and efficient that the brand has produced in its 100 years of existence.

Bentley’s hybrid engine is designed to comply with post-2035 European environmental regulations. In gasoline mode, it emits 99% less CO2 than conventional engines and reduces fine particle emissions by 90%. In addition, it is classified as zero emissions in gasoline mode by the European Union.

  • CO2 reduction : 99% fewer emissions.
  • Reduction of fine particles : 90%.

Technical characteristics of the Bentley hybrid engine

Appearance Details
Engine type V8 twin-turbo hybrid
Power 782 hp
Couple 1000Nm
Electric autonomy 72 kilometers
Total autonomy 800 kilometers (WLTP cycle)
Reduction of CO2 emissions 99% fewer emissions
Reduction of fine particles 90%

The Bentley Flying Spur: a combination of power and efficiency with significant torque

This car is about to take a big leap forward that will put it at the forefront of luxury cars, at least in terms of performance. In fact, it will be equipped witha plug-in hybrid V8 engine developing an impressive 1,000 Nm of torque and a peak power of 782 hp.

Amazing, right? These figures are the result of the Ultra Performance Hybrid system and the combination of a powerful and compact electric motor with a 4.0-liter biturbo engine. This is not the first time a dual fuel machine has been fitted.

But it is the first to enter the European Union classification as not emitting greenhouse gases when running on gasoline. It should therefore continue to be authorized to be marketed in cars beyond 2035.

It is on this date that the regulations on polluting engines will come into force. Measurements have shown that the main V8 emits 99% less CO2 than conventional engines and reduces fine particle emissions by 90%.

Needless to say, it merges two fuels, gasoline and electricity. It is also very quiet, because a significant effort has been made on exhaust noise, which makes it a bastion in the fight against noise pollution, but also against air pollution.

In this sense, the transverse sound is accentuated and of better quality, without the need to use artificial gadgets such as silencers. On the other hand, its high efficiency will allow it, thanks to its high voltage battery, a range of 72 kilometers, considerably longer than at present.

With the capacity of its tanks and the battery reserve, its total autonomy is estimated at an incredible 800 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle. This new high-performance plug-in hybrid drivetrain is ahead of its time.

How does this marvel compare to the brand’s current machines?

It should be remembered that the machines currently on the market, which equip Bentley brand cars, are not doing too badly. The engine of the current Flying Spur Hybrid, for example, is a Very efficient 2.9 liter V6.

Associated with the electric machine, it develops a torque of 750 Nm and a mechanical power of 544 hp. If these figures are already very good, they are not up to par with this latest generation, which integrates the faithful and efficient V8 as the main engine.

In conclusion, this machine offers unmatched power and efficiency, making it the best in over 100 years. In addition, the cars that will be equipped with it will mark a before and after in the fight against climate change and environmental pollution.
