The prices of the Opel Grandland are now known. And the electric car costs the same as an MG

Opel unveiled its new compact SUV, the second generation Opel Grandland, a few months ago. It is abouta 4.65 m long SUV which, despite its size, is part of the compact SUV segment.

In addition, in the Stellantis group’s product range, it is ideally located between the Peugeot 3008 (4.54 m long) and the Peugeot 5008, which measures 4.74 m long and also offers the option of seven seats.

Although the Opel Grandland shares the Stellantis STLA platform with the two Peugeots mentioned above, it is only offered with five seats. But with a big volume of 550 liter trunk in all versions, which, with rear seats folded, can hold up to 1,645 liters.

The Granland is available with a minimalist design, characterized by a series of light lines connecting the headlights at the front of the car and the lights at the rear, and is available with a range of powertrains that no longer includes combustion engines conventional. Instead, Opel offers it with several powertrains already known from other models of the Stellantis Group.

Three electrified engines for the Opel Grandland

The Opel Grandland range starts with the micro-hybrid variant, which is powered by an internal combustion engine of 136 hp associated with a 29 hp electric motor. It is followed by the plug-in hybrid version, which combines a combustion engine of 194 hp with a 125 hp electric powertrain and an 18 kWh battery, with which this variant offers an electric range of 87 kilometers.

Finally, the Opel Grandland is offered in two electric versions Who share the same 213 hp powertrain but differ in battery capacity: the first offers 72 kWh and the second 82 kWh, giving the SUV up to 523 and 582 km of electric range, respectively.

Finally, in the months to come, Opel will market a third variant at electric motor, which will integrate a 97 kWh battery with which the brand hopes that the Grandland can offer a range of up to 700 km without recharging.

Opel Grandland: orders are now accepted

Opel has now opened the possibility of ordering units of this SUV from its dealers. Opel has published the starting prices for the different versions of the Grandland. However, the German brand has only provided the starting prices of each variant, that is, the prices of the most basic trim level: the entry-level edition.

Particularly striking is the price of the electric version with a 73 kWh battery. It is only 400 euros higher than that of the Opel Grandland Plug In Hybrid and, above all, this price is competitive compared to other competitive models, direct or not. For example, Grandland costs the same price than the basic version of another electric SUV like the new Ford Explorer, Who measures 4.47 m and who, at this price, is offered in a 170 hp version with a range of 384 kilometers.

The price of the electric Opel Grandland is even more striking when compared to other electric vehicles outside the SUV segment. Opel SUV costs less than 300 euros more than the Extended Range version of the MG4, a 4.29 meter, 363 liter electric compact with a 245 hp engine and a range – similar to that of the Opel – of 530 kilometers.
