Five years ago, Ferrari opened a new chapter in its history: the arrival of its first plug-in hybrid car (the LaFerrari was the first hybrid car, but without external charging capability). Today, the SF90 Stradale bids farewell to the range.
SF90 Stradale death certificate
During the presentation of the financial results for the second quarter (with a profit increase of 16.2%), Ferrari signed the death warrant of the coupe versions of the SF90, probably due to the drop in sales of the hybrid models of the Cavallino and the resumption of gasoline models… with the V12 Purosangue as the most powerful model (but also with the Roma Spider and the 296 GTS as strongholds).
Neither the Spider version, nor the ultra sporty XX, which should continue to be offered (in fact, in recent weeks, the first XXs have been delivered, including one in Spain). Remember that the SF90 Stradale was not born as a limited series, but as a model that would adapt to demand.

When it appeared at the height of the pandemic, it did so with an engine unmatched by the Cavallino brand, with the magic number of 1,000 horsepower as its calling card and a sophisticated mixed transmission system.
The SF90 combined a 3.9 V8 twin-turbo combustion engine driving the rear wheels with two electric motors driving the front axle and a third electric unit at the rear. It is the presence of the latter (and a small 8 kWh battery) which allows the car to travel 25 kilometers in 100% silent mode.
The 812 GTS also disappears
Ferrari is also abandoning the GTS (convertible) version of the 812… but the other variants will follow in a few months.
Because, in this case, the reason for the change is more obvious: its replacement (the 12 Cilindri) is ready. In fact, we’ll be driving it in just over a month, although its arrival on the market is scheduled for the end of the year.
