Is Canada the next El Dorado for natural hydrogen?

MAX Power Mining Corp, a publicly traded company dedicated to targeting natural hydrogen discoveries in North America, has uncovered a potential natural hydrogen resource area in southeastern Saskatchewan. This resource play (a relatively large accumulation of hydrocarbons in a large geological region) was discovered by the company using its proprietary methods and data modeling.

Possible hydrogen contents can reach 96.4%.

According to MAX Power, its potential discovery of natural hydrogen (also known as white hydrogen) includes dozens of historic hydrogen showings, including grades up to 96.4%.

Following this discovery, MAX Power assembled (through a series of permit applications) a 1,244 km² land package which it named the “Rider Natural Hydrogen Project”. These lands are located in the Torquay-Rocanville corridor, an area that stretches 200 km (124 miles) long.

There is more than one high priority target area spread across five large, distinct claim blocks. Each of these areas shows signs of possible upward migration of hydrogen toward the surface. This makes the Rider Natural Hydrogen Project the largest known area in Canada to date for the possible discovery of natural accumulations of hydrogen gas.

MAX Power plans to verify and validate its potential discovery of natural hydrogen.

The discovery of this natural hydrogen is still in the early stages of research. Currently, geologists are designing a short-term program to verify and validate the existence of this hydrogen trend at Rider.
Furthermore, MAX Power has not put all its eggs in one basket. In addition to its potential discoveries in the Torquay-Rocanville corridor, the company is also examining a wide range of data sets in Saskatchewan and beyond. The company has a bold plan to leverage its first-mover advantage in the natural H2 sector, both in Canada and the United States.

Why Saskatchewan?

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan is well-positioned to become the first in North America to produce natural hydrogen. Indeed, the province has both very favorable geology and a transparent political framework for the exploration and development of this alternative energy source.
