The Trans Am series is making significant strides in establishing closer ties with Supercars, particularly with its recent appearances in Darwin.

The series has been advocating for stronger connections with Supercars, highlighted by three points-paying appearances at Supercars events this season: Darwin, The Bend, and Adelaide. Additionally, there was a non-championship appearance in Perth, which served as a replacement for the struggling TCR Australia Series.
Future Calendar Prospects
Speedcafe reports that Trans Am is likely to see its aspirations fulfilled with a 2026 calendar that could include six to seven rounds as a support category for Supercars. Expected returns to Darwin, Perth, The Bend, and Adelaide are on the horizon, although the specific Supercars events that will complete the schedule remain uncertain. It is believed that the Bathurst 6 Hour will be the one non-Supercars round, having been run this year as a joint event with the Trans Am/TA2 Muscle Car Series.
Calendar Adjustments
In 2025, Trans Am had to reassess its calendar after Motorsport Australia transferred the SpeedSeries to SRO Motorsports Australia. This change resulted in Trans Am dividing its schedule among Supercars, SpeedSeries, the Bathurst 6 Hour, and standalone events at Symmons Plains and Mallala.
The Future of TA2 Muscle Car Series
The future of the second-tier TA2 Muscle Car Series beyond this year remains uncertain. Category management is currently in discussions with both AASA and Motorsport Australia regarding the series for 2026. Currently, TA2 is sanctioned by AASA and is a prominent feature of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series. The decision regarding which governing body will oversee the series will ultimately shape the calendar for the upcoming years.
