Australian TCR Champions HMO Racing Set to Challenge World Tour: Four-Round Global Campaign with Hyundai i30 N TCR

Josh Buchan is set to make waves in the TCR racing scene with the HMO Customer Racing Hyundai i30 N.

Upcoming Races and Aspirations

Drivers Josh Buchan and Ryan MacMillan are gearing up for their first TCR starts of the year at The Bend Motorsport Park, coinciding with the Repco Supercars Championship. Following this event, Buchan and MacMillan will compete at Inje Speedium, where the TCR World Tour will share the grid with the TCR Asia Series. Although Buchan will miss the penultimate round of the TCR World Tour at Zhuzhou International Circuit, he is looking forward to participating in the season-ending Macau Grand Prix at the Guia Circuit.

“Having secured two championships, my focus this year has always been on making a significant impact during the international rounds at The Bend and Macau,” Buchan stated. He expressed disappointment about missing the race in China but is eager for another opportunity to race against World Tour drivers at Inje Speedium in South Korea, the home of Hyundai.

Ryan MacMillan’s Debut

Seventeen-year-old MacMillan will take part in four events across Australia, South Korea, China, and Macau. This marks an exhilarating conclusion to his season after a long-anticipated transition from historic Formula 3 machinery. “It definitely wasn’t part of the original plan, but it’s mind-blowing to think that I’ll be making my touring car debut in a world championship. That is amazing,” MacMillan commented. He is looking forward to the challenge of racing against elite drivers and learning from Buchan and the exceptional team at HMO Customer Racing under intense scrutiny. “I’m excited by the pressure. It’s the best competition I can have, and a great opportunity to accelerate my career.”

Challenges in the TCR Australia Series

This year’s TCR Australia Series has faced numerous calendar changes, resulting in only one event on home soil. The two-round series will culminate on the streets of Macau. “It’s unfortunate that we haven’t been able to race this year,” Buchan remarked. “I recently tested the new car and I’m confident that we have the best equipment and the team at HMO Customer Racing to contend at the front.”

Reflecting on past experiences, Buchan added, “I really enjoyed the competition during the TCR World Tour’s last visit to Australia in 2023 at Sydney Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama, where we debuted the Hyundai i30 Sedan. With more experience behind the wheel of that car now and brand-new machinery, I have some unfinished business to settle against the best in the world.”
