In a city built on a circus heritage, the national fear of clowns can genuinely be classified as a social problem. Thankfully, documentarian Daniel Espeut is out to set the record straight on one of the oldest performance art forms and get American laughing again.
Espeut sat down with us and our media partners from WSRQ to discuss the history of clowns, the strange resentment that has surrounded the art in recent decades and the recent rebound in the love of the circus. Of course, this film was shot in part in Sarasota.
