Sometimes a little story can pack a lot of punch. Short Film director Nicholas VanDevender hopes viewers feel that way when they see Sposini, a 7-minute short screening to its first Florida audiences on Thursday afternoon.
“It’s such a short film that it’s really hard to even describe it without giving anything away,” he told SRQ Backlot.
The film takes place in Italy, though it was actually shot in Las Vegas. The story is about a couple of newlyweds “trying to get to know each other a little better,” VanDevender, when thinks turn distinctly dark. The Sarasota Film Festival program only offers the synopsis, “You always hurt the one you love.”
The short so far has enjoyed some success. At the Dam Short Film Fest in Colorado, the film won the jury award.
Sposini plays as part of the Shorts 2: Narrative 2 program, screening on Thursday, April 11, at 12:15 at the Regal Hollywood 20. Nine films in total will screen with that program.
