If you are anything like us, you have been anxious to finally learn some information about the 2013 Sarasota Film Festival. We got a little bit of information today to share, and you should probably grab your calendar (or more likely open up your Calendar app). SFF organizers have announced when the line-up of films screening this year will be announced.
The Line-Up will be released on March 13, with tickets going on sale for SFF members and sponsors on March 14 and for the general public on March 15. Historically, the festival has also announced many of the stars expected at the event at the same time they release the film line-up.
While no number has been released, Director Tom Hall reports the festival received a record number of film submissions this year. The deadline for entries was Friday, so a team of bleary-eyed cinephiles is presumably already watching and deciding which films deserve projection on a screen at the Hollywood 20.
We will let you know more information as we get it. Sometimes SFF has released their tentpole films before the full line-up is released, and sometimes they have kept it under wraps. The folks at SFF have often based their decision on an Opening and Closing night film on what they like best at Sundance. Hall and SFF Programmer Magida Diouri are reportedly heading to Utah for that festival this week. Sundance runs this year from Jan. 17-27, and Hall has offered to share pictures with SRQ Backlot.
As for other SFF events on tap, Moonlight Movies will return with an event February 1 at Tatum Ridge Elementary. The festival team will also participate in the Giving Challenge on March 5-6.
